Australian Curriculum Teacher Materials
Supporting teachers to deliver high quality programs in Year 7 and 8
Supporting teachers to deliver high quality programs in Year 7 and 8
Associate Professor Alaric Maude is developing support materials for teachers of Year 7 and Year 8 Geography under the Australian Curriculum. The aim of these resources is to better connect geographical knowledge, skills and concepts to the curriculum requirements, to better support students in their learning. As teachers will know, there are many choices and much flexibility in how teachers select content, case studies and approaches and these resources will guide teachers in their decision making. Although written for early career and out-of-field teachers, these materials will be of use to all teachers of junior secondary geography.
Three of the four units are available for review in “draft mode”. These are working documents – we are confident that the material within the guides is correct, but the process for improvement and refinement is ongoing. Part of this is gaining feedback from teachers – regardless of experience level – on the usefulness and applicability of the resources. As such, the resources are currently not “polished”. As the materials will ultimately be hosted online, references to Hyperlinks currently relate to other support documents that you can access in the files.
These materials will be released under a Creative Commons license CC BY-NC-ND. This means you are free to copy the resources as long as the attribution remains, the copying is for non-commercial uses and you do not alter the content without permission.
Graphic design of these materials is currently underway. We will update these resources when they have been finessed, which we will aim to do before the end of October 2026.
We would love your feedback! If you have read, used or reviewed these materials we would love to hear from you! There is a link below to access a feedback form.
