A joint position paper with ASTA and AAEE
The Australian Geography Teachers’ Association (AGTA) is proud to join with our partners to present this national call to action for comprehensive climate change education (CCE) in Australian schools.
As we face the complex challenges of the Anthropocene, it is vital that young Australians graduate with the high-level climate literacy and critical thinking skills needed to make informed, responsible decisions for their communities.
This position paper outlines five key actions to ensure CCE is an explicit, mandatory, and research-informed thread throughout the F–12 curriculum. By fostering a systems-based understanding of our changing world and supporting teachers with high-quality professional learning, we aim to empower students with the agency and hope necessary to shape a sustainable and just future.
