AGTA Conference 2022: Plenary Address

Showcasing the principals of Disaster Resilience Education for young people – a panel discussion.

Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience
Facilitated by the Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience (panellists TBC)

Young people have unique capabilities to help protect themselves and their communities from the impacts of natural hazards. Providing young people with knowledge, skills and opportunities to share their learning and take action, enables them to contribute positively to the safety and resilience of people, places and the natural environment.

The Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience’s inaugural Disaster Resilience Education for Young People Handbook provides organisations and individuals committed to disaster risk reduction and resilience with high-level principles and strategies to design, implement and evaluate learning programs and initiatives for young people.

This panel presentation brings together leading Australian experts to unpack the principles and practice of disaster resilience education for young people and its implementation in schools. The panel discussion will culminate in a Q&A session.
